This suburb, which is located about 35 minutes east of downtown Memphis, is starting to see quite a bit of attention from homebuyers. Some of the factors that make this a hot area are, excellent schools, affordable homes and a great sense of community. Traffic in Memphis is not near as bad as some major cities, so even though Arlington is further out, your commute downtown should be bearable.
Located about 20 minutes east of Memphis is Bartlett, TN. It is the 9th largest city in the state of Tennessee and is consistently ranked as one of the top communities to raise a family. It's easy to see why too with the abundance of parks, shopping, restaurants and budget friendly home prices.
One of the more desirable suburbs of Memphis is Collierville, TN. The community, which is about 30 minutes outside the city, has a wonderful small town feel as well as some of the best schools in the area. Because of the demand to live here, you can expect the average home prices to be higher than just about any other part of Memphis.
Cordova is a popular community about 30 minutes east of downtown. Residents here enjoy quick access to Shelby Farms and Wolfchase Galleria Mall. Home prices here are very reasonable but there area also luxury homes available for over $1,000,000 in some areas.
This suburb boasts some of the most beautiful historic homes in Memphis. Only about 8 miles from Beale Street, many of the houses here are situated on picturesque mature tree-line streets with sidewalks. This could be a great option for anyone looking for a quieter lifestyle, but still close of enough to the city to enjoy everything it has to offer.
Hickory Withe is located about 35 minutes outside of the downtown area. Many homebuyers find it appealing because it offers a quieter lifestyle and the chance to purchase property with a little bit of acreage at an affordable price. If you will be commuting you'll also be happy to know that the community is conveniently located near Highway 40.
Lakeland Tn, is a suburb that is just starting to see more interest and growth in housing. Homes here are usually priced a little higher than some of the surrounding areas in part because of the demand for the excellent schools here. The commute to downtown, which is about 18 miles, is not that bad either. This is a great area to consider if you are looking for a more quiet and peaceful setting to call home.
If you're wanting to live in one of the trendier areas in Memphis, then Midtown might be a great fit for you. Homes here are reasonably priced, some of which are beautifully restored four-squares and bungalows. Each part of midtown has it's own unique charm and you're just minutes from downtown and Overton Park.
Oakland is about a 45 minute drive to downtown Memphis. This community is steadily increasing in population and and is ranked as one of the top suburbs for families. In fact it has one of the lowest crime rates in the Memphis area. Another factor that makes Oakland an attractive place to live is that real estate prices are still fairly low, hovering just under $200,000 on average.
This small community borders the eastern side of Collierville and is about 30-40 minutes to downtown Memphis. You can find many luxury homes here as well estate properties with a good amount of acreage. If you prefer a more rural setting, you may want to consider Piperton.
Just south of Germantown is the community of Southwind-Windyke. The neighborhoods located here offer beautiful upscale homes. The gated community of Southwind is probably most well known for it's TPC Soutwind golf course which hosts the FedEX St. Jude's Classic every year.
